Are you a strategic finance professional with a passion for financial integrity and statutory reporting excellence? Join a high-performing Queensland Government team as a Senior Financial Accountant (AO7), where your expertise will play a key role in delivering critical financial reporting, asset management, and advisory services across the department.

The Opportunity In this pivotal role, you will:

• Coordinate the preparation of Annual Financial Statements and external financial reports in line with statutory obligations.
• Lead asset accounting functions, ensuring assets are correctly recognised, valued and disposed of.
• Provide expert advice on accounting standards, asset management and taxation to senior leaders across the department.
• Support and guide the Financial Accounting team through complex accounting issues and contribute to leadership of day-to-day operations.
• Review and prepare key month-end journals and reconciliations, including oversight of work delivered by Queensland Shared Services.
• Manage relationships with Queensland Treasury, Queensland Audit Office, and other key stakeholders.
• Drive improvement, developing policies, procedures and systems that enhance the department’s financial reporting capability.
• Promote collaboration across finance teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement, flexibility and ethical practice.

About You To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, Queensland Treasury Financial Reporting Requirements, and relevant legislation.
• Proven experience in financial and statutory reporting, asset accounting, and government finance environments.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and the ability to build trust across departments and agencies.
• A proactive mindset, with the ability to identify and resolve complex accounting issues and support team capability uplift.
• A collaborative approach, capable of leading and contributing to cross-functional teams and finance projects.
