About the Company

Davidson is working with a government client who is seeking an experienced AO7 Principal Finance Officer contractor to join their Financial Accounting and Reporting team for a six-month engagement, with the possibility of extension.

About the Role

In this role, you will lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team to develop, implement, maintain, and review programs, systems, policies, and procedures to support finance functions across the department. This position requires a high level of expertise in financial accounting and management, with a focus on ensuring the integrity of the department's general ledger and budget development systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team to support finance functions across the department.
• Contribute to the preparation of the department's financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant financial management legislation.
• Manage the preparation of reconciliations, corrective journals, and working papers.
• Develop, implement, and monitor policies, systems, practices, and procedures to improve financial accounting and management practices.
• Provide value-adding analysis and authoritative advice to senior management, business units, clients, and customers.
• Identify departmental training needs in financial accounting and management, and contribute to the development and implementation of training programs.
• Manage the team's workload effectively with conflicting deadlines.
• Utilize high-level problem-solving and communication skills, with extensive knowledge of SAP and Excel.
  
  

About You:

• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and financial management legislation.
• Proven experience in preparing financial statements and managing general ledger integrity.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage conflicting deadlines.
• High-level problem-solving and communication skills.
• Extensive knowledge of SAP and Excel.
• Ability to work well in a team and contribute to its success.

• $85.31 per hour + Super
