Salt Bar is Hamilton’s home of expertly crafted cocktails, warm hospitality, and good times. We’re passionate about creating memorable experiences for our guests, and our vision is to become the neighbourhood’s favourite local – a place where everyone feels welcome, where creativity thrives, and where every visit is special. With exciting plans to introduce a small food menu soon, we’re seeking a dynamic Venue Manager to lead our team and help shape the future of Salt Bar.

We (the new owners) will be taking over the operation of the venue in mid-late May 2025.

Position Summary

As Venue Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind Salt Bar’s day-to-day operations and guest experience. You’ll inspire your team to deliver exceptional service, foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, and bring fresh ideas to life – from signature cocktails to community events. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves hospitality, thrives on creativity, and is passionate about building a loyal local following. You'll be skilled in the basics of running a bar, but still be ready to bring the flair to growing Salt through this next chapter.

Key Responsibilities

Champion Salt Bar’s vision of being Hamilton’s favourite local, ensuring every guest feels valued, comfortable, and eager to return

Lead, train, and motivate a small team to deliver consistently outstanding, personalised service

Develop and implement service standards that set Salt Bar apart

Encourage creativity within the team – from cocktail development to service innovations and event ideas

Build strong relationships with regulars and the local community, positioning Salt Bar as a hub for connection and celebration

Manage all aspects of venue operations, including staff rostering, recruitment, induction, and ongoing training

Oversee compliance with OH&S, RSA, and liquor licensing requirements, ensuring a safe and responsible environment

Monitor and manage inventory, ordering, and stock control for beverages and (soon) food, minimising waste and maximising quality

Handle customer feedback with empathy and professionalism, turning challenges into opportunities to impress

Collaborate with owners on business strategy, local partnerships, marketing, and the rollout of the new food menu

Drive sales, profitability, and venue reputation through innovative promotions, events, and community engagement

Maintain the highest standards of venue presentation, cleanliness, and ambience

Requirements

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a management role within a high-quality bar, cocktail venue, or hospitality environment

Deep knowledge of cocktails, spirits, and bar operations, with a passion for creativity and innovation

Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop a team

Genuine enthusiasm for delivering exceptional guest experiences and building community

Current RSA & RMLV certifications and strong understanding of compliance requirements

Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills

Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required

A hands-on, can-do attitude and a love for hospitality
