As our current Venue Manager prepares to move on, we are looking for a strong, capable leader to step into this key position at Alma Surfers Paradise. This is a full-time salary position, hands-on role best suited to someone with experience managing all aspects of a busy, high-volume hospitality venue, from front-of-house leadership to back-end systems, supplier relations, and team development.

Full-time, flexible roster (including weekends)
Salary position paid above the Restaurant Industry Award based on experience
Lead the team and manage full operation of front of house and oversee back-of-house operations

This is a full venue management position with weekly meetings with the owner. However, owner support is available whenever needed.

The kitchen is managed by the group Executive Chef who has a full team at Alma consisting of a Morning Head Chef and Lunch/Dinner Head Chef.

There will be a minimum 1 month hand over period from the current manager who has been here for over 5 years.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage and update Order-Mate POS and Hungry Hungry QR ordering systems
Oversee ordering of all alcohol (beer, wine, spirits) and liaise with suppliers
Coordinate functions and events from initial inquiry to successful delivery
Handle equipment servicing and repairs, including dealing with manufacturers
Implement and maintain venue policies, procedures, and compliance systems
Maintain council records (bar fridge temps, stock rotation, food safety, licenses and permits.)
Monitor and manage venue bookings, emails, and customer enquiries
Liaise with centre management to ensure venue operations align with all site regulations
Be the main point of contact for suppliers, maintenance, and external partners
Hire, train, and develop staff — and manage performance as needed
Process invoices, banking, and deposits
Troubleshoot issues with Tyro and EFTPOS systems
Ensure a clean, organised, and service-ready venue at all times
Lead from the floor, support and run shifts, engage with guests and keep service standards high

About You:
Proven experience in hospitality management
Strong understanding of systems, service, and team leadership
Calm under pressure, with excellent communication and organisation skills
Able to handle both the day-to-day and the long-term
Willing to be available when needed and take ownership of the venue
