About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Governance team as an Assistant Advisor, Governance.
In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting the operational, policy, and project functions that ensure the effective governance of key departmental initiatives. Your tasks will include coordinating consultations, assisting in the preparation of reports and briefings, and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders, including government sector agencies.
You will provide essential support to governance operations, ensuring compliance with guidelines, legislative requirements, and departmental standards. By assisting in research and analysis, you will contribute to policy development and project success. Your role will also involve maintaining accurate records, managing administrative tasks, and assisting with process improvements to help the Governance team achieve its goals.
Joining the Cabinet and Governance branch in the Office of General Counsel, you will directly support the improvement and strengthening of governance frameworks that affect a wide range of public sector activities.

We're Looking For
- Governance & Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of governance systems, regulations, and the ability to ensure adherence to legislative, policy, and procedural obligations
- Project Support Experience: Ability to assist with the coordination and delivery of projects and initiatives while ensuring compliance with governance standards
- Research & Analytical Skills: Ability to conduct both qualitative and quantitative research to support policy development and program initiatives
- Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports, briefings, and correspondence
- Stakeholder Engagement: Proven experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Attention to Detail & Organisation: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: Classification Grade 5/6. Package includes base salary ($97,027 - $107,059) plus superannuation (11.5%) and leave loading.
