About the role
The Rostering and Staff Engagement Officer plays a pivotal role in ensuring a seamless and positive employment journey for all support workers—from initial interest in the role through to long-term engagement within the company. This position is responsible for attracting and recruiting quality staff through targeted marketing and advertising, conducting interviews and reference checks, and managing all aspects of onboarding and induction. The role also includes coordination of ongoing training and traineeships to ensure workforce development. Central to the position is the creation and management of efficient, cost-effective staff rosters that meet client needs while increasing capacity and minimizing overtime. A core focus is fostering a supportive, engaged, and motivated team environment that promotes employee satisfaction and retention, contributing to the organization’s goal of being an employer of choice within the disability support sector.
What you'll be doing
Develop and implement recruitment strategies, including marketing and advertising vacant roles to attract high-quality support workers
Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including screening, interviews, reference checks, and employment offers
Coordinate and facilitate onboarding and induction processes to ensure new staff are well-prepared and aligned with company values
Organize and maintain training schedules, including mandatory training, ongoing development, and traineeship opportunities
Create and manage efficient, cost-effective staff rosters
Maintain open communication with staff to understand their preferences, availability, and concerns
Promote staff wellbeing, engagement, and job satisfaction through regular check-ins and feedback mechanisms
Develop initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture and position the organization as an employer of choice
What we're looking for
Ability to manage end-to-end recruitment processes including advertising, screening, interviewing, onboarding, and training coordination
Experience in developing and maintaining efficient and compliant staff rosters that balance participant needs, workforce capacity, and operational costs
High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, resolve issues, and support staff wellbeing across diverse teams
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and respond to changing service demands
Proficiency in rostering or Staff Management software systems and Microsoft Office Suite
