About This Opportunity

The Manager, Library Capability drives a positive and high-performing culture within the Library by leading learning and development, internal communication, and change management initiatives. This pivotal role ensures workforce capabilities align with Library strategy and the UQ Library Way, equipping the Library to succeed into the future. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategy, Planning & Improvement, you will collaborate with key Library leaders and oversee an Administrative Officer.

Key responsibilities will include:

Strategic Workforce Development

  • Lead the development of Library capabilities in partnership with leaders and managers to achieve strategic objectives, providing expert advice and support for culture development, change management, and psychosocial risk management.

Collaborative Stakeholder Engagement

  • Cultivate and maintain strong internal and external relationships, including with UQ HR and professional library bodies, representing the University Library on relevant working groups and committees.

Learning & Development Leadership

  • Direct the development, sourcing, and review of a comprehensive learning and development plan that supports staff across all levels in a changing environment and coordinate students placements within the Library.

Organisational Improvement & Communication

  • Lead the implementation of action plans arising from staff surveys, drive staff engagement activities in collaboration with Library Directors, and manage staff supporting executive administration, training, communication, and library ways of working.
About You
  • Degree and/or qualifications in a relevant field (e.g., business, organisational development, project/change management).
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing effective organisational culture development and change management programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, plan, commission, coordinate, and deliver a variety of learning and development initiatives aligned with strategic and operational needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including emotional intelligence, with the capacity to engage and collaborate effectively with diverse individuals, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored to various audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills, a proactive approach to ownership, flexibility in responding to changing priorities and managing competing demands, and a demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and supporting colleagues at all levels.
