About This Opportunity

As the Manager, Library Automation, you will lead service improvements, process efficiency, and service development through the strategic application of library automation and ethical AI projects. This pivotal role involves driving innovation by piloting new AI-powered services, exploring computational engagement and digital equity, and fostering collaboration with library teams and UQ stakeholders to implement impactful solutions and automation opportunities.

Key responsibilities will include:

Drive AI & Automation Initiatives

  • Lead the identification, leadership, and management of Library AI and automation initiatives, service improvements, and projects to deliver tangible outcomes and benefits.

Foster Integrated Service Delivery

  • Collaborate and partner with teams across the Library and UQ stakeholders to seamlessly integrate automation and AI projects into relevant services and plans, ensuring effective transition into operational use.

Strategic Vendor & System Engagement

  • Engage with vendors on system and tool enhancements to ensure requirements are met, explore new opportunities, and contribute to business case development for AI and automation investments.

Performance Management & Communication

  • Establish and monitor performance using success metrics and quality assurance, reporting on outcomes to maintain efficient services and implementing necessary changes, while facilitating effective communication across the Library and contributing to broader University strategic planning.
About You
  • Postgraduate qualifications (or progression towards) in Library, IT, Project Management, or a related field, coupled with extensive knowledge of library digital services and/or the higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically apply new technologies to drive innovation in library operations and service development.
  • Proven high-level interpersonal, communication, and networking skills with a strong ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of good practice and advancements in cultural respect, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility within libraries, including the impact of technology.
  • Proven management skills with the capacity to build internal relationships to delegate project activities, and demonstrated ability to implement organisational change and support staff through transitions, effectively managing a diverse workload and deadlines.

You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
