Pro-Rata Salary Range of $99,095.26 to $110k Base (dependent on experience, skills and capabilities) plus 11.5% Superannuation + Smart Salary Packaging Benefit
This role sits within the Cardiovascular Program within The George Institute and will predominantly focus on research relating to novel approaches to hypertension management and related clinical trials.
The role will focus on assisting projects in the space of better blood pressure lowering, in lower to middle income countries (LMICs) and Australia including assisting with assessments of program feasibility and comparative costs and cost-effectiveness for blood pressure control in LMICs; design, feasibility testing and conduct of trials in Australia related to new models of care.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assessing the costs of medicines in Australia and overseas, including total costs of provision
- Assessing role of innovations to improve hypertension care, including use of e-pharmacy
- Synthesizing literature and contributing to systematic reviews
- Report writing
- Assist in the preparation of Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and Governance submissions
- Initiate and conduct research under limited supervision
- Contribute towards building future projects and grant applications
- Effectively produce and maintain project data.
- Conduct data analysis and prepare data for publications and reporting
- Regularly update study tracking tools and systems
- Manage effective communication with internal and external study staff and key stakeholders
- Adhere to all study protocols and participate in protocol training sessions as required
- Adhere to safety policies and study SOPs, as outlined by The George Institute
- Adhere to the workplace policies and procedures of individual hospital study sites, as required
- Attend study team meetings and appropriately represent The George Institute and the study at all times while located at clinical sites
- Other tasks as directed by the senior investigative team
- As we are a global organisation, engage with colleagues and stakeholders in other regions relative to the responsibilities of the role, accommodating global time zones where required, to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience/ Our Successful Candidate
- Tertiary qualifications in science or healthcare discipline
- Completing PhD or master’s degree
- Experience in quantitative research methodologies
- Strong quantitative research skills
- Excellent written language communication skills and ability to draft a wide range of documents
- Excellent organisational skills, having the ability to organise, take initiative and follow up independently
- Methodical and systematic, with good attention to detail
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and the Internet
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing organisational priorities
- Ability to work well within a research team and excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong focus on quality of work.
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours of work for collaboration and contact with global teams based on requirements of the position
Desirable
- Experience in hypertension research and / or management in the lower to middle income countries’ setting.
- Experience in cost effectiveness modelling / analyses.
