About the role

As the Fleet Stream Leader, you will report to the Assets, Facilities, and Fleet Manager and take the lead in coordinating and delivering modern, customer-focused fleet services. Your leadership will ensure the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the North Burnett Regional Council’s fleet, supporting the organisation’s overall service delivery and operational success.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing the maintenance, repairs, and operational activities of the fleet while implementing strategies to enhance cost-effectiveness, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive overall productivity.

About you

You will have demonstrated expertise in contemporary operational and technical fleet management, supported by tertiary qualifications relevant to the industry.

Your strong financial acumen will be evident through your ability to execute cost-effective fleet procurement activities and analyse data and trends to identify opportunities for efficiencies and reduce whole-of-life costs.

As an experienced people leader, you will excel in coaching and mentoring a diverse team, fostering a proactive and engaged working environment.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Develop, maintain, and implement an affordable fleet asset management plan.

Develop and implement fleet management strategies and models that effectively balance customer expectations for availability and reliability with optimised workforce distribution.

Recommend and present fleet procurement programs that support ongoing cost-efficient operations and effective service delivery models

Deliver annual fleet procurement and disposal programs, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, including worker consultation, during development of specifications, assessment of tenders and commissioning of new fleet items.

Manage the maintenance program for Council’s fleet assets to ensure reliability, compliance, safety, and lowest whole of life costs.

Oversee the delivery of maintenance activities to ensure efficiency, quality within budget.

Manage the fuel management system that fulfils user requirements while ensuring accurate tracking and accountability of fuel purchases and consumption

Identify cost-saving opportunities, including the establishment of pre-qualified contractor panels to assist in the efficient delivery of maintenance programs, materials, and wet and dry hire plant.

Provide leadership to the Fleet Team, including mentoring and developing staff.

The North Burnett Regional Council is established as a body corporate under the Local Government Act 2009

The Council came into existence on the 15 March, 2008 following the Queensland local government reform process which resulted in the amalgamation of 6 Shires – Monto, Eidsvold, Mundubbera, Gayndah, Perry and Biggenden , into the new North Burnett Regional Council.

The elected Council is the law making body and consists of the Mayor and 6 Councillors. The administration of Council is headed by the Chief Executive Officer.

To assist with the delivery of services provided by Council, the administrative operations are divided into two Departments and five areas, each specialising in specific areas of responsibility.
