We’re now seeking an experienced Group Fleet Manager to take ownership of our fleet operations across all business units and ensure our vehicles are safe, road-ready, and operating at peak efficiency.
Role Overview
The Group Fleet Manager will lead all aspects of fleet maintenance and compliance across the company. You will be responsible for managing maintenance schedules, coordinating repairs, overseeing defect reporting systems, and working closely with mechanics, operations, and senior leadership to drive continuous improvement. This is a leadership role that requires high-level planning, people management, and a strong mechanical background.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the full maintenance and compliance program for the group’s fleet across all depots
Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules to ensure safety and reliability
Review, triage, and track all defect reports; assign priorities and oversee timely rectifications
Maintain and audit accurate records of service history, inspections, repairs, and defects
Liaise with drivers, operations, and workshop staff to ensure clear communication of maintenance needs and downtime
Manage third-party suppliers and mechanical contractors for specialised repairs or overflow work
Monitor workshop systems, ensure close-out of completed work orders, and review job cards for accuracy
Order and manage inventory for vehicle parts and workshop consumables
Ensure vehicle and workshop compliance with internal policy, DOT, and relevant safety regulations
Provide regular fleet performance reporting to senior management and drive strategic improvements
Champion a high standard of workshop safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency
Support the onboarding and training of new workshop staff and assist in vehicle procurement decision-making
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience in a fleet management, heavy vehicle maintenance coordination, or workshop management role
In-depth knowledge of vehicle maintenance systems, compliance requirements, and mechanical servicing standards (buses preferred)
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to handle competing priorities and tight timeframes
Strong leadership and communication skills
Competency with digital maintenance platforms and workshop software
MR or HR Licence highly regarded (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to work autonomously while leading a team across multiple locations
