The Domestic Violence & Homelessness Worker at LocalKind plays a key role in providing direct support, advocacy, and case management to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of domestic and family violence and those facing homelessness. Operating within a trauma-informed, person-centred framework, this role involves conducting safety planning and risk assessments, assisting clients through legal processes, and advocating on their behalf within various support systems.
The Worker will also facilitate referrals to essential services such as accommodation, mental health support, and legal assistance, while providing access to material aid in times of immediate need. The position requires the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure holistic and timely support for clients. Additionally, the role includes empowering clients to navigate systems independently and raising awareness of systemic issues impacting vulnerable populations.
Selection Criteria
○ Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience working within the social and
community services sector directly with individuals experiencing domestic and family
violence and or homelessness.
○ Relevant qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, Psychology, or a related
discipline.
○ Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of domestic and family violence, its impact,
and relevant legal and social frameworks.
○ Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and develop comprehensive safety plans.
○ Strong skills in providing person-centred support, advocacy, and information.
○ Excellent communication, interpersonal, and engagement skills, with the ability to build
rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
○ Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
○ Sound knowledge of referral pathways and support services for individuals experiencing
domestic and family violence and homelessness.
○ Commitment to trauma-informed practice, ethical conduct, and client confidentiality.
○ Proficiency in record-keeping and data collection.
○ Current NSW Driver's Licence.
○ Satisfactory NSW Working With Children Check and National Police Check.
