CASE WORKERS – STAYING HOME LEAVING VIOLENCE (SHLV)
Home-Start is seeking 2 passionate and dedicated Staying Home Leaving Violence Case Workers to deliver our SHLV program in Goulburn/Mulwaree, Yass Valley and Upper Lachlan LGAs. The position will be based in Goulburn, however, regular travel throughout the region will be necessary in the role. A program vehicle will be available.
The successful candidate will work with women aged 18 years and over, who have separated from a violent partner or family member and choose to remain in their own home or another home of their choice.
Staying Home Leaving Violence (SHLV) is a specialist domestic and family violence program aimed at promoting housing stability and prevent homelessness for women and children. The service provides intensive case work, which is long-term, needs-based and integrated with key agencies such as Home-Start’s Specialist Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) service, the Police, Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS), health services, Housing NSW and relevant NGOs.
SHLV requires comprehensive assessment of risk for women and children affected by domestic and family violence. SHLV safety planning and case management strategies support a process of enabling victim/survivors to:
· remain separated from a violent partner by addressing common barriers to leaving relationships
· have stable accommodation
· maintain support networks
· maintain security in employment/training for women
· maintain security in education/childcare for their children

· Full time – 35 hours per week
· Part time - 21hrs/week

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You will have an understanding of the impacts of domestic violence on women and children and a commitment to person centred, child focused and trauma informed practice. You will have experience actively engaging with culturally diverse peoples and with complex clients in a collaborative case work context.
Criteria:
· Tertiary qualification in a social scienced or related field and/or specialised skills sufficient to perform at this level. (Diploma as minimum requirement)
· Current Driver’s Licence and medically fit to drive
· Satisfactory Criminal record check.
· Current Working with Children Check (NSW)
· Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the impacts of domestic violence on women and children.
· Demonstrated experience in case planning and coordination of people with complex support needs.
· Understanding of, and demonstrated ability to work with human service agencies.
This role is funded by the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ). Home-Start is offering a 12-month employment contract with an option to extend to June 2029.
Employment wages and conditions will be in accordance with the Social Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Award, Level 4.1 to 4.4, dependent on relevant skills, qualifications and experience. In addition, salary sacrifice options to increase your take home pay.
