Finance & Payroll Officer - Fixed Term Contract 6 Months

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, self-motivated Finance & Payroll Officer with a passion for working with the elderly to join our team at our corporate office located in Kingston TAS.

CHT provide person-centered care, based on individual preferences and choices within our residential care facilities and community care services. We do this from a model of care based on our values of Compassion, Honesty, Respect, Integrity, Services and Truth.

The position of Finance & Payroll Officer is to undertake the administrative financial functions of the organisation, working as a member of the finance team. Ensuring the delivery of services relating to aged care finances are provided in a way that demonstrates appropriate knowledge, capability and genuine care for residents and clients and their choices.

The Key Responsibilities are:

Accurately and efficiently handle accounts payable and receivable, including meticulous coding in accordance with the chart of accounts ( in conjunction with account software)

Prepare & Submit the Business Activity Statements and demonstrate proficiency in data entry for the end-of month financial model.

Participate in the fortnightly processing of payroll, ensuring strict compliance with industrial instruments and National Employment Standards. Maintain meticulous records of employee payroll information, ensuring adherence to superannuation and salary packaging requirements.

Processing resident and client direct debits including the Independent Living Units (ILU) payout calculation

Maintain and Manage multiple registers

Involvement in Residential agreements and contracts

Undertake other duties as are within your level of competence and training

The successful person will demonstrate:

A supportive approach when working with residents and clients with respect to their independence and making informed choices about their care, services and living the life they choose.

An ability to treat residents and clients with dignity and respect and support them to maintain their identity.

Knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards

Proven ability to work as part of a cohesive team.

Adaptability and flexibility including the ability to deal with change.

A high level of organisational and prioritisation skills and an ability to multi-task.

A commitment to quality continuous improvement;

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;

A commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Essential requirements of the position are:

Diploma of Accounting or equivalent experience

Minimum of 2 years’ experience undertaking finance processing functions

Intermediate Microsoft Excel Knowledge

Experience with Inerva Accounting System & Lightyear Automated Accounts Payable system will looked upon favourably.

A valid National Police Check that has been undertaken within the last six months or a willingness to undertake one.
