The Payroll and Finance Officer will contribute to the maintenance of the payroll system and weekly processing of payroll for MDAS employees. The role will work closely with and report to the Senior Payroll Officer and Financial Accountant to ensure the smooth operation of the payroll and finance functions. This role is part of the Finance team within the Corporate Service Department.
This position will provide the accurate and timely processing of payroll data for all employees and ensure compliance with Fair Work and other related payroll legislation requirements.
The position will also contribute to the financial processing functions within the team, inclusive of accounts payable and receivable, month end tasks and reconciliations, financial analysis and reporting requirements.

Key Selection Criteria:
• Commitment to the delivery of high-quality payroll services and support to key stakeholders both internal and external.
• Payroll experience including, but not limited to award interpretation, superannuation processing, terminations and leave accruals.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations. Proficiency in MS Office software including Excel.
• Knowledge of payroll software and systems – MicroPay and Business Central would be an advantage. • Solves problems based on operational knowledge and experience, scanning for useful information, looking for underlying causes and suggesting alternative actions for clients and staff.
• Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and manage workload effectively.
• Ability to provide written and verbal education to a wide range of professionals with varying degrees of ability and skill.
• High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
•Demonstrate an ability to work with others in a collaborative manner to utilise the knowledge and skill of team members in improving organisational systems.
• Take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services.
Qualification/s:
Cert IV in Bookkeeping/Accounting or working towards is desirable.
Microsoft Office proficiency including Excel.
Experience is payroll systems such as MicroPay is desirable.
Other Screening Requirements:
A current Driver’s License that allows you to drive in Australia.
A current Employee Working with Children Check card.
A current National Police Check.
