About the Position
This position plays a key role in developing, maintaining and enhancing the City's plant nursery by providing high-quality plant stock with a major focus on efficient customer service to internal and external agencies. The position also provides a secondary function as relief support to the other Parks and Environment Operational Teams during employee leave or absences. This includes maintaining, protecting, and enhancing the City's parks, gardens, reserves, verges, sumps, and rights-of-way by delivering high-quality mowing or streetscape services, along with general maintenance duties as required.
The role is split approximately 70/30 with the primary focus on nursery horticulture activities and the remaining time dedicated to supporting parks and gardens maintenance operations.
To be successful in this position you will need to demonstrate:
- Certificate III in Horticulture and/ or extensive experience in a production plant nursery.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of plants, garden design and maintenance, tree pruning and maintenance.
- Sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety requirements.
- Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.
- Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
- Current Basic Worksite Traffic Management certificate.
