About the role

Apace WA is seeking an experienced Senior Nursery Technician to join our team in North Fremantle, Western Australia. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our wholesale and retail nursery, ensuring high standards of plant health and production. You will also form an integral part of our community organisation committed to social cohesion valuing equality, diversity and inclusion.

What you'll be doing

Supervising and training a team of nursery staff to maintain optimal growing conditions for a wide variety of native species endemic to the Swan Coastal Plain and Darling Scarp, WA.

Implementing efficient propagation, potting, and nursery management procedures to meet production targets.

Monitoring and maintaining the nursery's irrigation system to ensure optimal growth and water use.

Conducting regular inspections and implementing pest and disease control measures to protect the nursery's plant stock.

Maintaining detailed records of plant inventory, sales, and other nursery operations.

Assisting with the preparation and dispatch of plant orders to customers.

Providing technical advice and guidance to the nursery team and customers on plant care and cultivation.

What we're looking for

Minimum 1 years' experience in a senior nursery or horticulture role

Strong knowledge of plant biology, propagation techniques, and nursery operations

Excellent plant health and disease identification skills

Proficient in the use of nursery equipment, including irrigation systems, potting machines, and greenhouse management tools

Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of nursery staff

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Tertiary qualification in horticulture or related field
