City of Parramatta has an exciting career opportunity to become part of our Parks and Open Space department in a leadership position. We are seeking experienced horticulturalists & greenkeepers to join our growing team and lead maintenance teams to create the best parks and open spaces in Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out horticultural activities to ensure the City of Parramatta's parks are presented to the highest standards.
  • Make decisions and implement work practices in line with best practices of the Horticulture/Arboriculture/Greenkeeping, trade and industry.
  • Undertake Park and landscaping embellishment works to uplift key parks in our area.
  • Mentor staff within the team and undertake on-the-job training for the team.
  • Undertake the day-to-day management of staff and their assigned tasks.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and undertake other tasks as directed, to assist other teams and operational areas, particularly in wet weather or other emergencies to meet community needs.

About You

The successful applicant will have previous experience in leading teams, particularly in the maintenance of Parks and Open Spaces. As the team leader you will be responsible for overseeing team operations, assigning tasks, planning of works, establishing goals, encouraging open communication and be able to distribute information amongst the team.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate Ill qualification in Horticulture, relevant to position/area of specialisation (arboriculture, horticulture, landscaping, nursery, and sports turf management).
  • Current NSW MR Driver's Licence
  • White Card

What's on offer:

Permanent Full-Time opportunity

Hours: 6am-3pm Monday-Friday

We are offering an attractive remuneration from $75,922 to $83,609 plus 11.5% Superannuation.

This position will attract allowances in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023, this could include the Adverse Working Conditions Level Allowance.
