Viking Imports is a family owned specialty food importer, distributor and 3PL solutions provider. We supply premium products to Australia’s leading independent retailers, health food stores, specialty deli’s and major supermarket chains. Some of our best sellers are frozen wild blueberries, organic goat feta and Swedish crispbreads! Having been in operation for 30 years, the next family generation are looking to substantially ramp the business up with your help in overseeing and organising our warehouse.
The Role
This hands-on role will focus on managing our warehouse and increasing its efficiency throughout our chilled, ambient and frozen environments. You will work alongside our small warehouse team and be responsible for the entire process of picking/packing to fulfilment.
Overall your responsibilities include:
Oversee Daily Operations: Manage receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment. Oversee container and purchase order processes from start to finish and allocate work to team members.
Stock Management: Ensure DIFOT is maintained, conduct regular stocktakes, manage stock outs, maintain accurate inventory records and resolve inaccuracies promptly
People Management: Supervise our warehouse team of seven, creating a collaborative and quality driven work environment.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance warehouse procedures, driving efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Cost Management: Liaise with Managing Director on warehouse related costs
3PL Management: Oversee our 3PL customers stock moving in and out with care and quality.
Safety: Maintain an overall safe work culture, ensure our warehouse is safe, well organised and compliant with regulations, conduct toolbox talks, act as the warehouse emergency contact.
Transport Liaison: Manage the runs of our driver and liaise with external logistics and transport companies when we have overflow.
Warehouse Organisation: Use our Warehouse Management System to track and process sales orders, make stock adjustments.
What you bring to the table
You have common sense, thrive on streamlining processes and love when things are organised.
Additionally, you will bring:
Warehouse management experience, ideally in the food industry or in imported goods
A drive and a thirst for improving processes
People supervisory experience and an ease in getting the best out of others
A down to earth, problem solving, easy to get along with approach
Forklift License
Proficiency in the use of warehouse management systems and other relevant software
Excellent attention to detail

Warehouse Hours: 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday
