Position Summary:

The Automotive Freight Controller is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and managing the movement of automotive freight in and out of the facility, ensuring timely delivery, accurate documentation, and adherence to all safety and compliance standards. The role plays a critical part in maintaining the efficient flow of vehicles and automotive parts within the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

Schedule, coordinate, and monitor inbound and outbound freight, including vehicles and automotive parts.

Liaise with transport providers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.

Ensure proper documentation is completed for all freight movements, including consignment notes, manifests, and customs declarations.

Track and update the status of shipments and provide regular reporting to relevant stakeholders.

Maintain accurate records of freight costs, transport damages, and delivery timelines.

Identify and resolve freight discrepancies, delays, or damages in a timely manner.

Work with the warehouse and yard team to report delivery of vehicles.

Ensure compliance with workplace safety, environmental, and security standards, particularly in relation to hazardous materials or high-value freight.

Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience in freight coordination, transport, or logistics (automotive industry preferred).

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Sound knowledge of freight documentation and customs requirements.

Experience working with vehicle logistics or in a car yard/fleet environment.

Understanding of occupational health and safety (OH&S) requirements in transport and logistics.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Accuracy of freight documentation and inventory records.

On-time delivery and dispatch rate.

Incident and damage rate per shipment.

Freight cost control and variance.

Compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Working Conditions:

Primarily office-based with a yard environment.

Adherence to OH&S procedures.
