The Little Marionette is seeking a skilled and detail-orientated Production Roaster to join our team. The Production Roaster will be responsible for the daily roasting of coffee beans, ensuring consistency, quality, and adherence to company standards. The ideal candidate has a passion for coffee, a deep understanding of roasting techniques and a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coffee Roasting: Operate and maintain roasting equipment to produce high-quality roasted coffee. Follow specific roast profiles and make adjustments as necessary to achieve desired flavour profiles.
• Quality Control: Monitor and evaluate the quality of roasted coffee through cupping and other testing methods. Maintain consistency across batches and ensure all products meet company standards.
• Inventory Management: Manage green coffee inventory, including receiving, storing and tracking. Coordinate with the Head Roaster to ensure an adequate supply of green coffee beans.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on roasting and grinding equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Report any issues or needed repairs promptly.
• Documentation: Keep detailed records of roast profiles, batches and any adjustments made. Ensure all production data is accurately recorded and accessible.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment. Properly handle the forklift, cleaning agents and other materials used in production.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 1-3 years of experience in coffee roasting. Experience with various roasting machines and techniques is highly preferred.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of coffee roasting processes, flavour profiles and the impact of different variables on the final product.
• Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in using Cropster software.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 35kg, stand for extended periods, and work in a hot environment.
