About the role

Council is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Development Assessment Officer to join our Development Assessment Services team.

This role will see you be part of a dedicated team responsible for assessing development applications that support sustainable growth and preserve the unique character of Ku-ring-gai.

Reporting to the Team Leader Development Assessment, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assess a diverse range of development applications in accordance with the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act
  • Provide expert advice to applicants, consultants, and community members
  • Prepare professional reports and recommendations for planning decisions
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of planning processes

Qualifications, Skills & experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Building Surveying or a related discipline
  • Experience in assessing development applications within a local government or similar environment
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality service to the community
