A Council in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne is looking for an Urban Forrest Planner to join their team on a contractual basis.

• Start ASAP - 11th July, potential to get extended
• $60 p/h plus super
• Hybrid working
• Laptop provided
• Tertiary Degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Design or equivalent with xperience in providing urban design advice and direction for a broad range of urban development.

Key Responsibilities -
1. Developing and implementing strategies, policies and plans that enhance the urban forest and City greening. This will include leading a review and update of the Urban Forest Strategy and Implementation Plan; Tree Policy and the Significant Tree Policy in collaboration with relevant internal departments and utilising Council’s Project Management Framework.
2. Developing and managing Council’s Significant Tree Protection Register for public and privately owned Significant Trees.
3. Establishing and managing systems and processes to protect the city’s privately owned Significant Trees.
4. Reviewing and make determinations on Significant Tree works permit applications, including administering relevant processes.
5. Monitoring and reporting on implementation plans, projects and budgets; and preparing funding submissions.
6. Providing advice to internal and external stakeholders on the protection of trees, and how to achieve Council’s goals for expanded canopy cover and green infrastructure through Council’s capital projects and strategic Precinct projects.
7. Participating in groups such as Greening the West to foster knowledge exchange and build partnerships aimed at increasing the urban forest and city greening.
