Principal Strategic Planner

  • High profile Government Department | attractive pay rate $65 p/h + super
  • ASAP Start | 6 month temporary contact position.

A renowned Government Department in Caboolture has partnered with Public Sector People to recruit a Principal Strategic Planner for a temporary contract position of a 6 month temporary contract.
This position provides specialist planning expertise and lead the delivery of highly complex strategic planning and placemaking projects and services to meet the needs of the community.

Responsibilities of the role
As a Principal Strategic Planner and member of the Strategic Planning and Place Making you will:

  • Act as a technical expert providing leadership and direction to team members in the delivery of strategic land use planning matters to drive integrated and sustainable planning outcomes.
  • Provide expert advice in strategic land use planning in accordance with legislative, policy and business requirements.
  • Lead the delivery of highly complex strategic planning projects and specialist project teams (including external consultants) to achieve strategic and business outcomes.
  • Support the development of team capability to drive a high performance, continuous improvement and customer focused culture.
  • Provide specialist technical input into the development and implementation of key policy relating to the planning scheme, infrastructure planning, significant major projects and key placemaking activities.
  • Facilitate project-based community consultation including representing Council at a range of customer meetings, community and business forums.
  • Build high level relationships across a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects and service deliverables are achieved.
  • Act as a department delegate on a variety of projects, providing a source of professional advice to key stakeholders

About you

  • Have worked within government State, local or Federal within the last 3 years.
  • Have held a similar position previously.
  • Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in applying relevant state and local government legislation, including the Planning Act 2016, SEQ Regional Plan, Council planning schemes, local laws and policies.
  • Sound knowledge of Government policies and procedures
  • Can start ASAP
  • Open to temp contract opportunities
