The Role
The APS 6 Knowledge Management Officer will report to the Assistant Director Research and Partnerships to support implementation of the various activities associated with Defence's Health Research Governance framework.
You will provide support in administration, governance and business as usual activities. The position requires an understanding of the standards that guide research conduct such as the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and the National Statement on the Ethical Conduct of Human Research.
The Knowledge Management Officer will be accountable for managing the Defence Health Research inbox, managing the workflow through the Defence Human Research Management System and making independent decisions relating to research processes.
This will include interpreting and responding to research inquiries related to governance and performing procedural, clerical and administrative support work to achieve results. You will be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to ensure that research is conducted in accordance with the appropriate health research governance processes.
The role is also responsible for secretariat support of the Defence Health Research Steering Group.
About our Team
The Directorate is responsible for strategic Defence health research, including health research governance, provision of support to health research initiatives, and health research dissemination and translation.
The team identifies and manages strategic health research priorities as well as engages with internal and external research partners to undertake health research design, delivery and support to Joint Health Command.
Directorate responsibilities include conducting, commissioning and facilitating health research, including quantitative and qualitative research, data management, analysis and reporting.
Our Ideal Candidate
This position requires extensive experience in administration, research governance and stakeholder engagement.
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- An understanding of the standards that guide research conduct such as the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and the National Statement on the Ethical Conduct of Human Research.
- Experience with administrative tasks and maintaining databases, information systems and records in accordance with information management policies.
- Experience engaging positively with stakeholders, managing requests and queries with professionalism.
- Experience interpreting and complying with relevant health research governance requirements including relevant legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team based environment, including ability to collaborate with a range of professionals, actively supporting the work area and team objectives.
- Experience providing secretariat services to high level committees/steering groups.
