We have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Structural Steel Draftsperson to join our growing team located in Somerton. This full-time position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident using Tekla Structures to produce accurate, high-quality shop drawings for fabrication and site installation.

With a strong reputation for quality, safety, and reliability, you will work with a team of drafters, fabricators, welders, and riggers who are professional and passionate about integrating structural steel into a wide range of projects across the commercial sector.

Your Role:

As a Draftsperson, you’ll play a key part in bringing projects to life, working collaboratively with engineers, fabricators, and construction teams to create clear and precise fabrication drawings that meet industry standards.

Responsibilities:

Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to produce detailed shop drawings for steel fabrication

Collaborate with the team to resolve technical issues and keep projects moving

Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and relevant building codes

Proactively identify and resolve design issues or technical discrepancies

Take ownership of your work and follow through on tasks with minimal supervision

What You’ll Bring:

Minimum 3+ years of experience in steel drafting or structural steelwork (commercial projects preferred)

Proficiency in Tekla Structures is essential

Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, manufacturing and installations processes

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and construction specifications

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and meet deadlines

A qualification in drafting, building design, or related field is advantageous
