Are you a super-organised people-person with a passion for education and rural communities? Do you thrive in a role where no two days are the same—and love the idea of supporting the next generation of doctors? This is your chance to step into a rewarding and impactful role in Griffith in the heart of regional NSW!
Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) is a not-for-profit health care organisation based in Wagga Wagga, the largest inland city in rural New South Wales, and we are committed to enhancing the health and well-being of our communities and the region we support. We work in partnership with healthcare providers, including Allied Health, General Practice, Pharmacy, and Aged Care, to deliver innovative, evidence-based primary care solutions.
We're on the lookout for an enthusiastic and proactive Medical Student Coordinator to join our team and help create an outstanding rural placement experience for University of Wollongong medical students.
What You’ll Be Doing
As our Medical Student Coordinator, you’ll be the go-to person for all things student support. From orientation to placements, training days to social activities, your job is to make sure students not only succeed—but thrive—during their time in the beautiful Murrumbidgee region.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Coordinating medical student orientations, placements and rosters across the western MPHN.
Organising Regional Academic Days, training events and learning activities.
Supporting the recruitment and onboarding of casual academic tutors.
Helping students and their families connect with the local community (think welcome BBQs, local events, community networks).
Liaising with GP practices, hospitals, and health services to support student placements.
Providing admin support across the program and keeping track of equipment and resources.
Gathering feedback from students and partners—and turning it into meaningful improvements.
Helping share the great work we do through MPHN publications.
Attending events and occasional travel across the region (yes, with the odd overnight stay!).
What Makes This Role Special?
Impact: You’ll help to shape the rural experience of future doctors, building a stronger health workforce for regional Australia.
Flexibility: Work 17.5 hours per week with Wednesdays as your anchor day—the rest of your hours are flexible!
Community: Be part of a passionate team that values connection, wellbeing and making a difference.
Variety: From admin to event planning, student support to strategic coordination—you’ll wear many hats and love every minute.
We’d Love to Hear from You If You...
Have strong communication and organisational skills
Can juggle multiple tasks without breaking a sweat
Enjoy working both independently and as part of a team
Feel comfortable engaging with professionals, students and the broader community
Have some experience in admin, education, or health (bonus points for all three!)
