About Us

EON Aboriginal Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation established in 2005, delivers the EON Thriving Communities Program, which focusses on improving nutrition through gardening and nutrition education as a basis for chronic disease prevention across Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Working at EON offers a meaningful opportunity to positively impact Aboriginal health and wellbeing.

Our work is made possible through funding from government grants, corporate partnerships, philanthropic contributions and private donors.

About the Role

The Financial Controller is based in EON’s Subiaco office, reports to the CEO and works closely with the Executive team (some based regionally). As a senior leader, this role is pivotal in guiding the organisation's financial strategy, ensuring long-term sustainability and managing financial risk.

Key responsibilities include:

Advising the CEO and Board on financial matters to support informed, strategic decision-making.

Overseeing financial operations, including cash flow planning, investments, and asset management.

Ensuring the integrity and reporting of all statutory, regulatory, management and taxation obligations (e.g. PAYG, BAS, FBT, ACNC).

Setting the direction of financial administration, including the development and annual review of the organisational budget.

Undertaking financial modelling to support new projects, funding proposals, and scenario planning.

Developing and monitoring financial policies and ensuring compliance.

Managing the annual audit process and preparation of financial statements.

Overseeing the Bookkeeper in relation to payroll, accounts payable/receivable, balance sheet reconciliations, banking and donation processing.

Contributing to organisational planning, funding strategies, and financial risk identification and mitigation.

Managing insurance coverage and claims, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining key systems and processes, including financial software and records management.

This is a hands-on leadership role that provides strong financial governance and enabling EON to deliver lasting outcomes in remote Aboriginal communities.
