About the role

Suburbia Bakery is looking for a passionate and skilled Kitchen Lead / Cook to oversee daily kitchen operations and ensure the highest quality of our baked goods and café menu. This full-time role, based in Fairfield, is perfect for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in creating exceptional food.

What you'll be doing

Leading and coordinating the kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations

Strong ability to work solely and within a small team, especially during service

Preparing and executing high-quality menu items

Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen organisation

Managing stock, ordering ingredients, and minimising waste

Training and mentoring junior kitchen staff

Collaborating with the Venue Manager to enhance menu offerings and streamline workflow

Ensuring efficient service and consistency across all food production

What we're looking for

Proven experience in a leadership role within a bakery, café, or similar kitchen environment

Strong knowledge of food preparation, and kitchen operations

Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a busy setting

Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality

Strong leadership and communication skills

A positive, team-oriented mindset with a passion for hospitality

Food safety certification or willingness to obtain one
