The Organisation
CropLife Australia is the national peak industry organisation for the plant science sector, representing companies that develop and supply innovative crop protection and biotechnology innovations. We advocate for a science-based independent regulatory system so that Australian farmers have access to our member companies’ innovations to support sustainable agriculture and food security.
The Position
We are looking for a motivated Public Affairs & Communications Officer to enhance our communications, social media, and public affairs initiatives. This role is perfect for a creative professional with strong communication skills and an interest in advocacy. The role reports to the Director of Media and Communications and supports communications projects across the organisation’s key policy areas including:
Agricultural chemical and crop biotechnology regulation
Australian agricultural policy and government relations
Sustainable agriculture, product stewardship and recycling initiatives
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate, develop and execute social media plans and campaigns
Maintain the CropLife website and all digital channels
Graphic design and other multimedia projects
Develop, write and design content for a wide range of written materials and publications
Event planning, coordination and management
Support public relations and advocacy and issues management
Coordinate media monitoring
About You/Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you should have some of the following:
Experience in strategic communications, public affairs, or a related field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated experience with social media platforms, print and digital marketing tools.
Demonstrated experience in communications, issues management and/or advocacy campaigns.
Capacity to think innovatively, adapt and work well under pressure
Strong project management skills and ability to shift priorities
Understanding of media at regional and national levels.
Excellent strategic thinking, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Basic design skills and an eye for visual content
Ability to work proactively and across teams, providing advice to senior managers
Relevant academic qualifications
