Venue Manager – Monash Club & Church of Secular Coffee

Clement Janken is looking for an experienced Venue Manager to join our growing business. This is a hands-on venue manager role where you will be overseeing Monash Club, a staff and alumni club and Church of Secular Coffee. Both are located on Monash University campus in Clayton.

As Venue Manager you will be responsible for the overall management and operational success of Monash Club and Church of Secular Coffee ensuring outstanding service, client satisfaction, and financial performance. You will lead teams, implement service strategies and maintain a high level of standard for the Clement Janken brand.

Monash Club is a vibrant multi-purpose space designed to exceed the expectations of Staff, Alumni, and Postgraduate Students. It's the ideal venue for meetings, relaxation, and entertainment. This space has a restaurant, lounge area, two meeting rooms and a private dining room. All these spaces can be transformed into whatever event the guest desires. We also provide catering services all over Monash University campus.

Church of Secular Coffee aims to bring Melbourne to Monash. We’ve brought the iconic South Melbourne brunch experience from our sister store, ST. ALi, to the Clayton campus. From our specialty coffee to our brunch and beverage menu showcasing Victorian and Australian producers, breweries and wineries, and our 5-star service. Key Responsibilities:

Oversee daily venue operations, ensuring smooth execution of events and functions.

Develop and maintain strong client relationships by delivering exceptional service.

Drive financial success through budget management, revenue growth, and cost control.

Lead and develop teams, fostering a culture of high performance and professional growth.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including food safety, RSA, and WHS.

Collaborate with culinary teams to develop innovative menus and dining experiences.

Implement new procedures and initiatives to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.

Experience:

Proven experience in venue or hospitality management, ideally in diverse settings

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.

Experience in planning and executing a variety of bookings from small meetings to large-scale events

Excellent financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, P&L, and cost control.

Exceptional communication and client relationship management skills.

Ability to problem-solve and adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise tasks efficiently.

Exceptionally high standards and a strong work ethic and a passion for continuous improvement

Barista experience is a plus

Understanding of workplace health & safety regulations

We are open Monday to Friday 9am - 6pm except for when a night or weekend function is booked. As venue manager you will be expected to work these shifts depending on what we have booked. The venue closes for up to 4 weeks from the end of December to the end of January for the Christmas / New Years break.
