Randstad is currently a preferred partner with a State Government organisation to recruit for the below role:
Job Title: Senior Payroll Officer - Chris21 / iChris
Location: Melbourne CBD + Hybrid Flexibility (2 days in office - Tuesdays & Thursdays)
Salary: VPS4/5 $60 - $70 per hour + Super
Contract Duration: 5 Months (until end of August)
Start Date: April 2025
About the Role:
Reporting to the Manager, People Operations, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality payroll services for a workforce of <550 employees, including managing upcoming structural changes impacting an additional staff. You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll, as well as contributing to system administration and continuous improvements within the payroll function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing on a fortnightly basis using Chris21 / iChris.
- Undertake system administration tasks, including report writing, running audits, and making system changes.
- Provide expert advice on salary packaging, leave entitlements, payroll policies, and employee conditions.
- Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding within the payroll system.
- Process payroll adjustments, manual calculations, and allowances.
- Collaborate with People & Culture and Workplace Relations teams to provide accurate payroll-related advice.
- Support payroll projects and process improvement initiatives to enhance payroll service delivery.
- Work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative, supportive team environment.
Skills & Experience Required:
- 3-5 years of high-volume, end-to-end payroll processing experience.
- Proficiency with Chris21 / iChris software is essential (including system admin, reporting, and processing).
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements.
- Demonstrated experience in handling payroll complexities, including terminations, variations, and audits.
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to pick up discrepancies.
- Strong communication skills with a collaborative approach and the ability to work autonomously.
