$45-$50 per hour + Super

Cox Purtell is partnering with an accounting firm who supports small business owners with bookkeeping, payroll and taxation and they are looking for a Senior Payroll Officer to support their client base. We are looking for someone on a 3-month temporary contract to fill a gap between permanent hiring - for the right person with current permanent working rights, this role does have the potential to become a permanent contract.

Role responsibilities

• Ensure that payroll processing is completed on time, is accurate, and with a focus on providing a best-in-class client experience.
• Ensure compliance with tax legislation and reporting requirements of different states and territories.
• Complete superannuation reconciliations and lodgements.
• Accurately report, manage and lodge payroll information through the Single Touch Payroll system.
• Resolve escalated payroll issues and queries, collaborating with clients, internal stakeholders, and external authorities when necessary.
• Stay up to date with changes in tax legislation that may impact payroll processing.
• Complete year-end payroll activities and reconciliations.

Requirements

• Minimum five years' experience in a similar role, managing payroll for multiple clients.
• XERO payroll software experience is essential; experience of using other payroll systems will be considered favourably.
• In-depth knowledge of tax legislation to the extent it relates to payroll processing.
• Ability to manage multiple client priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Happy to be "hands-on" - no task is too small or too big.
• Have exceptional organisation and communication skills both written and verbal.
