- Demonstrated proficiency in using office systems and relevant software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, databases).
- Basic to intermediate Excel skills are required and may be tested as part of the interview process (e.g. Lookups, Pivot Tables).
- Familiarity with Compass School Manager will be highly regarded.

About the Role:
Balwyn High School (BHS) is a leading Victorian Government secondary school renowned for its outstanding academic outcomes, extensive cocurricular programs, and strong emphasis on staff development.
The Education Support (ES) Generalist plays a critical role in supporting the school’s daily operations and administrative functions. This role offers variety, requiring flexibility to work across departments, and presents opportunities for professional growth and cross-training in multiple Education Support roles. The position supports school events, daily organisation, and ensures the smooth operation of essential services, contributing to a collaborative and collegial working environment between ES staff and teaching staff.
Duties:
1. Daily Organisation and School Operations Support
Support the coordination of the school’s daily operations, including:
- Staff absence management and coordination of casual relief teachers (CRTs).
- Calendar, room bookings, and class schedule adjustments.
- Excursion and event administration.
- Recording and tracking Time-in-Lieu (TIL) accrual and acquittal.
2. Administrative Support
Perform a range of clerical and administrative tasks, including:
- Handling telephone and front office enquiries.
- Supporting bulk printing, mail processing, and ordering.
- Purchasing and liaising with suppliers.
- Maintaining accurate electronic and paper records.
3. Educational Program and Event Support
Support teaching staff and Education Support colleagues in:
- Examination, excursion, and event planning.
- Resource coordination and logistics for school programs.
4. Staff Development and Relief Support
Participate in cross-training across Education Support roles to:
- Build a broad understanding of school operations.
- Provide relief and backup to other ES staff, enabling their professional development.
5. Communication and Liaison
Act as a communication conduit within the school community:
- Disseminate key information to staff and students, including daily bulletins, room changes, and meeting schedules.
- Ensure smooth communication between departments and teams.
6. First Aid and Health Support (Relief)
Provide initial first aid care to students when required, under supervision and within the scope of provided training.
7. Safety and Compliance
- Support the maintenance of a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment, in line with Child Safe Standards.
- Assist with the coordination of Emergency Management procedures, including scheduling of drills.
8. Other Duties
Perform other duties as directed by the Principal or their delegate to meet operational needs.
Requirements:
- Working with Children Check (WWCC) - mandatory
- Ensuring confidentiality of records is maintained
