THE JOB OPPORTUNITY

We’re seeking a Building Code Consultant (Building Surveyor) to join our Sydney CBD-based team. A person who is excited to hit their career and life goals with us for many years to come. This role is for a “mid-level” experience consultant, who may be looking to move up into a more senior role now or in the not-too-distant future, as well as an having an interest in accessibility requirements.

You’ll be involved in managing some of the largest projects ever built in Australia, guiding the design teams to meet their compliance obligations and see your mega projects from plan to finished product.

ABOUT YOU

Essential

• Minimum 3-4 years prior experience in a similar BCA consultancy or private certification role.
• Degree / tertiary qualification in Building Surveying, Construction Management or similar.
• A friendly attitude and unapologetic thirst for knowledge.
• Serious about your work, but don’t take yourself too seriously.
• Well organized, a problem solver, a great communicator and report writer.
• Strong BCA knowledge across Class 2-9 buildings, particularly commercial, retail and industrial.
• Drivers License (Class C)

Viewed Favourably (but not essential)

• Rail, transport, schools or public sector experience
• Building surveyor / certifier accreditation with Department of Fair Trading
• Solid understanding of accessibility standards

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your work will be extremely diverse including offices, industrial, stations, schools, high-rise, public buildings, Defence facilities and retail throughout Sydney and NSW. The main thing the projects have in common is that they’re massive legacy projects that truly shape our country’s future.

Your main roles will include:

• Building Code (BCA) technical advice and reporting on existing buildings, design plans and completed construction.
• Crown Certification of designs, inspections and construction certification
• Preparing BCA & Accessibility Performance Solutions
• Accessibility (DDA) technical advice and reporting on existing buildings, design plans and completed construction
• Being part of rewarding mega projects that run for multiple years with large, dedicated design teams who are all working towards a common goal

SALARY PACKAGE

• Salary package of $140, 000 -$180,000 subject to negotiation for the right person, skills and experience.
• We expect this will increase quickly over the years with your evolving performance, know-how and internal promotions.
