About This Opportunity
Join our team at the Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) as a Research Project Manager, where you'll play a key role in driving the success of commissioned research and evaluation projects. You'll ensure projects run smoothly-on time, within budget, and aligned with contractual obligations. While this isn't a hands-on research role, you'll collaborate closely with researchers, project teams, and the ISSR Research Development Team to manage planning, budgets, staffing, stakeholder engagement, quality assurance, reporting, and project execution.
- Build strong relationships to deliver on Institute initiatives and projects.
- Provide leadership in best practice in research and evaluation project management.
- Work with the Institute's leadership to improve practice in researcher workload management.
- Manage contractual obligations, ensuring project milestones are met and addressing any contract-related issues.
- Oversee budgets, forecast expenditures, track research staff time, and manage financial reporting in line with University policies.
- Coordinate and manage data collection and analysis, ethics applications, project reporting, and other technical project requirements across project teams.

About You
- Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications, with extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience and research and evaluation management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or research, education and training.
- Demonstrated ability to manage research and evaluation projects, including the implementation and use of business and project management tools, and the ability to work well under pressure with external deadlines.
- Experience in working on commissioned research and evaluation projects and/or research and evaluation projects outside of the university research sector.
- Demonstrated experience in influencing and bringing together groups of internal and external stakeholders to develop and manage research and evaluation project delivery.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, particularly for project delivery in a research context.
- Demonstrated skills in research contract administration and management, including the ability to engage with industry and research partners.
- Ability to work effectively within a team as well as work independently when required.
- The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia and background checks.
