About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Research Fellow to support the first ever Indigenous-led ARC Centre of Excellence.

The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Futures (ARC-IFC) is a nationally funded research centre located in the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (BEL) at the University of Queensland (UQ). Led by UQ, the Centre is a consortium of seven Australian universities including the University of Melbourne, the University of Technology Sydney, the Australian National University, the University of the Sunshine Coast, Charles Darwin University and University of Western Australia. The Centre is entirely Indigenous led and includes 18 Chief Investigators and 5 international Partner Investigators.

In this role with the IFC, you will have access to the Indigenous Futures Preparation Program, which includes leadership and research training, professional development, mentoring, masterclasses and workshops, writing retreats, a research pilot program (seed funding for 'blue skies' research ideas), and other ARC-IFC events such as annual summits, national linkage retreats and international conferences.

This opportunity is being offered at Academic Level A or Level B commensurate with the successful candidates' skills and experience in the research theme of Health and Wellbeing.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Research: Collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
  • Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

At UQ, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are supported to fill their cultural responsibilities, with access to 8 additional days (pro-rata) of paid Cultural Leave annually. Indigenous employees are encouraged to access the UQ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Staff Network with a variety of significant events held throughout the year.

This is a research focused position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ's Criteria for Academic Performance.
