Good to Great Schools Australia (GGSA) uses a school improvement framework to support schools to make their improvement journey from Poor to Fair, Fair to Good and Good to Great.
About the Role
The Researcher works closely with our Client and research team. The role conducts research to develop and further teaching and learning methods and strategies. They may also recommend and incorporate existing research knowledge into academic programs.
The role will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Client and Senior Researcher on developing academic papers.
- Searching for and review published literature, compile into an index and present summaries to Team Lead for review.
- Gathering feedback and carry out searches based on that.
- Conduct statistical analyses from school and student data
- Preparing articles, reports, manuscripts (using word), and presentations (using PowerPoint), and summarise project results and iterations.
- Taking instruction from Senior Researcher to draft specific notes, briefs, presentations and findings and reports.
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualification in Psychology or Education - • Masters-level Research qualifications (Masters of Research or MPhil)
Track record of successful research projects in academic research, including managing multiple research projects concurrently (understanding how to build requirements, monitor a report’s build, test and implementation) - A record of peer-reviewed publications in Child Psychology or Education
- Data analysis skills: Proficiency in statistical analyses and experience in software programs such as R
- Experience in undertaking research on primary school education or child development, proficiency in statistical analyses, data interpretation, and research design
- Experience from building reports from scratch (including the sourcing, clean-up, storage and automatic production of reports) writing academic papers and business cases
- Exceptional research, communication skills (oral and written and ability to talk to the school about the contents of the report – performance, behaviour etc), IT skills (Experience in R, Advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint), and strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
Desirable Criteria
- Experience as an analyst in a management consulting firm
- Knowledge of child development, literacy/language acquisition, numeracy in early childhood
- Data analytics and data management skills using software programs such as Python or R
- Knowledge of Direct Instruction and Explicit Direct Instruction models
- A familiarity with and knowledge of the Australian primary and secondary education sector
- Understanding of design and co-design processes; education reform; business development, monitoring and evaluation
