About the role

Seven Seeds is looking for an experienced and talented Pastry Chef / Baker to join our team in our new cafe, Suburbia. In this full-time role, you are responsible for the creation and production of high-quality baked goods, including pastries, bread, cakes, and seasonal treats. This role involves a blend of artistry and technical skills, ensuring that products are not only delicious but visually appealing. The pastry chef will work in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment, consistently maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and customer service.

What you'll be doing

  • Prepare and bake a variety of items, including pastries, cakes, cookies, tarts, pies, muffins, breads, and seasonal specialties.
  • Follow recipes with precision to ensure consistency and quality of products.
  • Produce high-quality laminated pastries with precision and consistency.
  • Work with naturally leavened doughs and maintain high fermentation standards.
  • Manage mixing, sheeting, shaping, proofing, and baking processes.
  • Create signature items and limited-time offerings, incorporating creativity into everyday and seasonal menus.
  • Rotate stock and ensure the freshness of ingredients
  • Maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards
  • Working closely and assisting Head Pastry & Baker to align pastry and baking offerings with the overall cafe menu

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Pastry Chef / Baker in a high-volume, fast-paced cafe or restaurant environment
  • Excellent knowledge of baking techniques, and pastry making.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Passion for using high-quality, seasonal ingredients to create delicious and visually appealing baked goods
  • Proven track record of leading and training a team of pastry chefs and bakers
  • Relevant qualifications in Patisserie, Baking, or Culinary Arts
  • Collaborative environment within a small, dedicated team
