About the opportunity

The Careers Centre at the University of Sydney is looking for an Employability Officer to help students achieve the best career and employment outcomes during their studies and beyond.

As an Employability Officer, you will deliver workshops and provide guidance on job search and applications while referring students to Career Development Officers for career planning and development support.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • deliver tailored career skills workshops for undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • provide individual career advice on job search and applications
  • collaborate with faculty and university contacts to enhance career skills programs
  • build and maintain employer and industry relationships to align services with job market needs
  • promote programs and services to students and faculties within available resources
  • stay engaged with professional networks like NAGCAS to uphold best practices
  • align career programs with university learning and teaching initiatives.

About you

Are you passionate about empowering students with career skills and job search strategies? Do you have the expertise to deliver impactful workshops and insights into the graduate job market? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

  • demonstrated working experience in delivering and evaluating career skills workshops
  • experience in providing job search and application advice, with experience dealing with students in a tertiary environment
  • highly developed written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • understanding of graduate labour market with experience working in a field related to graduate employment outside of education, or international work experience
  • strong teamwork and collaborative skills, coupled with the ability to work independently.
