About Us:

ICS is a family-owned stainless steel metal treatment business, established in 2009, and currently experiencing rapid growth. In 2021, we expanded with Cable Restoration Australia (CRA), specialising in offshore cable coating.

We are now looking for an experienced and highly motivated General Manager (GM) to lead our growing team, drive operational excellence, and help scale our businesses. The Role:

As General Manager, you will oversee daily business operations across ICS & CRA, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and high service standards. You will work closely with the Directors to drive business growth, manage teams, and optimise operations.

This role requires strong leadership, operational oversight, and strategic planning skills to scale our business while maintaining compliance, safety, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Compliance & Safety Leadership

• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
• Promote a strong Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSEQ) culture across the business.
• Oversee workplace safety policies, PPE use, and risk assessments.
• Conduct regular toolbox meetings and site inspections to maintain a safe work environment.
• Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and improve safety protocols.

2. Operational Management & Efficiency

• Oversee daily business operations, ensuring smooth workflows across all departments.
• Optimise inventory, equipment, and supply management.
• Develop and implement efficient operational policies and procedures.
• Maintain asset integrity and oversee plant and equipment maintenance.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and process gaps.

3. Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, manage, and motivate a small but dynamic team.
• Oversee HR functions, including hiring, onboarding, and training.
• Conduct performance reviews and create professional development plans.
• Foster a positive, team-oriented workplace culture.

4. Financial & Commercial Management

• Work closely with the owners and CEO to develop and manage budgets.
• Track expenses, manage costs, and ensure profitability during high-growth phases.
• Monitor financial performance, analyse reports, and drive cost-saving initiatives.
• Assist with pricing strategies, contracts, and financial forecasting.

5. Business Development & Growth Strategy

• Identify new market opportunities and revenue streams.
• Work with the Commercial Manager to develop marketing and sales strategies.
• Expand ICS’s core business in stainless steel treatment and chemical sales.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing clients while securing new business.
• Explore opportunities in Fire Security and Robotics as potential growth areas.

6. Quality & Process Improvement

• Implement quality control measures to improve production standards.
• Develop and document efficient workflows, checklists, and best practices.
• Streamline supply chain and improve inventory turnover.
• Reduce operational costs while enhancing productivity and service delivery.

• Safety & Compliance – Build a safety-first culture, ensure zero serious incidents.
• Financial Growth – Maintain profitability during rapid expansion.
• Operational Excellence – Improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimise processes.

• Quality Standards – Reduce defects and errors, improve service quality.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience as a General Manager or similar leadership role.
• Strong business, financial, and operational management skills.
• Hands-on leader who thrives in both strategic and operational tasks.
• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or engineering sectors (preferred).
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to develop and implement business growth strategies.
• Strong knowledge of HSEQ regulations, compliance, and workplace safety.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business management tools.
