An exciting and unique opportunity for a mission-driven individual with the drive and professional experience to provide strategic operational leadership to make a difference to the Marthakal Homelands.

Yolngu are the traditional owners of the land and sea cultural estates of Northeast Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. Our service area includes 30 remote Homelands throughout the Marthakal region, whilst our administration, services and businesses are located in Galiwin’ku Community on Elcho Island.

Marthakal Homelands Resource Centre Aboriginal Corporation (MHRCAC) is the parent entity of the Marthakal Group. MHRCAC provides numerous government funded services such as Primary Health Care, Municipal and Essential Services, Land and Sea Management, Housing Maintenance to people residing on remote Homelands in the Marthakal region.

Our two subsidiaries, Marthakal Yolngu Airline Pty Ltd and Marthakal Business Enterprise Pty Ltd currently operate an air charter business, manage the Elcho Island Airport, sell fuel for planes, as well as manage the Marthakal Motel and Elcho Island Arts.

The General Manager Operations is a key member of the Executive Team and is responsible for directing, controlling, and administering all operational activities of the organisation including operational strategy and long-term sustainability.

If you are our ideal candidate, you will demonstrate strategic operational experience with a minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role. We seek a community development-oriented individual with a genuine desire to work collaboratively across the organisation and with the Board.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead a committed operational team who currently work remotely and as such the successful candidate will be adept at building and harnessing strong working relationships.

This role will be based Elcho Island.
