The Opportunity:

  • Full-Time | Fixed-Term contract of employment until 31 December 2026.
  • PW6 $83,214 - $89,326 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience).
  • Chadstone Campus – onsite parking with close proximity to public transport.

The Student Engagement and Equity area at Holmesglen is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative educational environment where every student feels valued. The department promotes a vibrant student life and advocates for the diverse needs of students, offering key services such as disability support and programs for First Nations students. Focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion, the department also leads strategic initiatives that amplify student voices and ensure meaningful student partnerships throughout their journey at the Institute.

The Student Life Team Leader supports the Manager in leading and motivating the Student Life team to deliver a comprehensive student life and support program, overseeing daily operations and workflows. It involves identifying, developing, and implementing initiatives that foster student participation in campus life, aligned with the Learner Engagement and Partnership Strategic Plan. The position also contributes to the development and review of policies and strategies that ensure a safe and supportive learning environment. A key focus of the role is to lead the growth of student voice and partnership initiatives that enhance the student experience and promote a positive, fair, and respectful culture.

As a Student Life Team Leader, you will:

  • With the Manager, lead, motivate and support the professional development and performance of the Student Engagement team and lead the promotion the Institute’s student engagement program to ensure broad exposure to students and staff.

  • Facilitate effective student representation across the Institute through appropriate support of student leaders in their day-to-day operations including recruitment, recognition and the coordination of meetings and events.

  • Investigate current student partnership practices across the Institute and with relevant faculty staff design and implement student partnership initiatives in accordance with the unique needs of the student cohort and their delivery of training.

  • Investigate, design and implement strategies that acknowledge and celebrate the diverse student community to promote Holmesglen as an organisation that allows students to access education and training.

  • Plan and implement and deliver a robust international student orientation program that welcomes international students. Including managing the operations of the international student accommodation program including placement and arrival of students, rental agreements, communication and payment arrangements.

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Degree qualifications in a field relevant to student support services and administration, including the provision of engagement activities for students.

  • Lesser qualifications may be accepted subject to significant relevant experience and specialist expertise in the delivery of student engagement programs.

  • Strong understanding of the Vocational and Higher Education sectors, student lifecycle, engagement strategies, and compliance requirements, including for international students.

  • Proven leadership in student engagement and admin settings, with experience managing teams and building strong stakeholder relationships, promoting equity and inclusion.

  • Skilled in office operations, event coordination, and use of student management systems, with the ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced environments.

  • WWCC and Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
