Founded in 2013 by a group of courageous Coota Girls Survivors, Coota Girls Aboriginal Corporation (CGAC)supports the complex healing needs of Stolen Generations Survivors, their families, and descendants.
CGAC works in partnership to promote social, emotional, cultural, and spiritual wellbeing through holistic and community-led approaches. Guided by the aspirations of Coota Girls Survivors, CGAC delivers healing programs and events, provides direct wellbeing support, advocates for systemic change, and raises awareness of the ongoing impacts of intergenerational trauma and forced removals.
About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Elder Care Coordinator to join our team. This role leads the Elder Care team in supporting Stolen Generations Survivors and descendants to access culturally safe, trauma-informed aged care services.
Key duties will include:
- Leading the Elder Care team to connect with Survivors and descendants, increasing awareness of aged care entitlements and access pathways.
- Coordinating culturally safe and person-centred supports.
- Advocating for Survivors’ needs across health, aged care, and community systems.
- Developing strong partnerships with ACCHOs, health providers, and service partners.
- Designing and facilitating workshops and wellbeing initiatives under the Elder Care Support Program.
- Ensuring compliance with NACCHO and funding body requirements, maintaining timely reporting.
- Providing supervision, mentorship, and professional development support to Elder Care Connectors.
Requirements
We are seeking a candidate who:
- Identifies as a First Nations person (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander).
- Holds relevant tertiary qualifications in health, social work, or community services.
- Has experience in aged care or community services coordination.
- Understands trauma and healing-informed practice and cultural safety principles.
- Has demonstrated experience working with First Nations communities.
- Is an effective communicator with the ability to build and maintain trusted partnerships.
- Holds a current NSW Driver Licence.
- Has a current or is willing to obtain a Working With Children Check and National Police Check.
