Founded in 2013 by a group of courageous Coota Girls Survivors, Coota Girls Aboriginal Corporation (CGAC) supports the complex healing needs of Stolen Generations Survivors, their families, and descendants.
We work in partnership to address social, emotional, cultural, and spiritual wellbeing through a holistic and community-led approach. Guided by the aspirations of Coota Girls Survivors, CGAC delivers healing programs and events, provides direct wellbeing support, advocates for systemic change, shares the Coota Girls story for truth-telling and healing, and raises awareness of the ongoing impacts of intergenerational trauma.
About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Programs and Funding Officer to play a key role in building the long-term sustainability of Coota Girls Aboriginal Corporation.
This position focuses on developing existing projects into revenue-generating initiatives, managing funding applications and contracts, and ensuring all programs align with CGAC’s healing mission and strategic goals. The role will report directly to the General Manager – Programs & Wellbeing.
Key duties will include:
- Developing existing projects and programs into sustainable, revenue-raising initiatives
- Identifying and pursuing new grant and funding opportunities
- Preparing and submitting high-quality funding applications and proposals
- Overseeing grant contracts, compliance, and governance obligations
- Managing and monitoring budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Building relationships with government, philanthropic, and community partners
- Supporting program coordination and community activities through culturally safe, trauma-informed practice
- Undertaking research and analysis to strengthen program design and organisational sustainability
- Supporting delivery of key initiatives, including the Nurture Our Youth Program and Stolen Generations Healing initiatives
- Participating in regional travel for community engagement and partnerships
Requirements
We are seeking a candidate who:
- Identifies as a First Nations person (Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander)
- Has experience in funding management, program development, or sustainability planning
- Has experience working with young people and delivering youth programs
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills
- Has experience working with First Nations communities, particularly Stolen Generations Survivors and families
- Can build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Holds relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience
- Possesses (or can obtain) a NSW Working With Children Check and National Police Check
- Holds a current driver’s licence and is willing to participate in regional travel to deliver community programs and strengthen regional partnerships
