Roper Gulf Regional Council is seeking two dedicated and community-focused Community Safety Coordinators—one based in Wugularr and one in Borroloola—to lead the delivery of vital safety and wellbeing programs. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in remote communities while working in a dynamic, supportive, and culturally rich environment.
About the Role
As the Community Safety Coordinator, you will oversee the delivery of multiple funded programs including Night Patrol, Sport & Recreation, Youth Services, Alcohol & Other Drugs Education, and more. You’ll work closely with Council staff, community members, and external stakeholders to ensure programs are delivered effectively, safely, and in line with funding agreements.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and supervise Community Safety programs across Wugularr and nearby communities
Manage staff rosters, schedules, and community events
Support remote teams with training, reporting, and performance monitoring
Liaise with NT Police, government agencies, and community stakeholders
Monitor program budgets and manage expenditure in line with Council procedures
Ensure compliance with WHS and Council policies
Advocate for youth and community wellbeing through program delivery and referrals
Essential
Qualifications in Community Services or extensive experience in a similar role
Proven ability to deliver multifaceted programs across multiple sites
Strong planning, coordination, and team leadership skills
Excellent oral and written communication abilities
Experience working in remote communities and with Indigenous populations
Understanding of budgets and financial processes
Current Senior First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Physically and mentally fit to meet the demands of the role
Salary & Benefits
Base Salary: $79,862.13 - $87,796.37 (depending on experience)
Leave Entitlements: 6 weeks annual leave + 10 days personal/sick leave
