Job summary

In this role, you will:

  • Work as part of a flexible team that delivers economic regulatory projects across our functions in Victoria's regulated utility sectors, energy pricing, transport, local government, and water.
  • Use research, data analytics and communication skills to provide clear and concise advice to support decision making in the long-term interests of Victorians.
  • Understand the economic regulatory frameworks and economic concepts that apply to regulated entities and liaise with internal and external parties.

Position details

The position is responsible for:

  • Undertaking robust research and analysis supporting clear, reasoned and considered advice on regulatory matters.
  • Leading key parts of regulatory projects including the preparation of commission papers, decisions, and briefings.
  • Provide support at commission at meetings and forums while collaboratively engaging with key parties.

This is a fixed term position until January 2027. The work location for this position is 570 Bourke Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.

The Essential Services Commission is Victoria's independent economic regulator of essential services supplied by a range of industries. The commission's functions include:

  • making regulatory decisions with respect to prescribed industries (including price determinations, licensing, customer protection and access disputes).
  • undertaking reviews and providing advice to Ministers on a range of economic and regulatory matters.
  • administering the Victorian Energy Upgrades program.
