The position will be supporting a high performing team that provides expert advice and oversight of the development and delivery of a range of data collection, validation, analysis, dissemination, and reporting activities relating to kindergarten participation. The position will support work across the Early Learning Funding and Operations Branch to identify and implement strategic opportunities to build on and improve current practices and ensure data is used as effectively as possible to drive positive outcomes for children.

Work Type:
This is a Fixed Term - Full Time position available until December 2026. Hybrid work arrangements are available.

Location:
The work location is 200 Victoria Parade, East Melbourne.

Attributes

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative and results-focused professional with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You will demonstrate sound judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret and communicate complex data to inform policy and funding decisions. Experience with tools such as Power BI, Tableau or Python, and relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• A suitable tertiary qualification in a related field.
• Experience using visualisation and/or scripting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Python, etc.

The Department leads the delivery of education and development services to children and young people both directly through government schools and indirectly through the regulation and funding of early childhood services, government and non-government schools.

About the Division

The Early Learning Operations and Monitoring (ELOM) Division leads core funding, policy, operational and monitoring functions for funded three and four-year-old kindergarten in Victoria.

Early Learning Data Management and Reporting

The Early Learning Data Management and Reporting Unit is responsible for kindergarten data collection, analysis, monitoring and reporting including:

• Providing expert advice and oversight of the development and delivery of a range of data collections.
• Data management and reporting .
• Insights and analysis relating to kindergarten participation and attendance
• Dissemination of analysis to key stakeholders.
• Focus on policy design and funding to the sector.

This Unit works across the Early Learning Funding and Operations Branch to identify and implement strategic opportunities that build on and improve current practices and ensure data is used as effectively as possible to drive positive outcomes for children.
