Benchmark Resourcing is partnering with a highly respected Australian food manufacturing business seeking an experienced Health & Safety Lead to oversee safety operations across two meat processing facilities.

This newly created leadership role will suit a hands on professional who thrives on building structure, consistency and accountability. You’ll work closely with site leaders to implement group wide safety systems, manage workplace injury and return to work processes and strengthen a proactive safety culture that values care and compliance in equal measure.

The Opportunity:

Develop, implement and maintain company wide WHS systems, policies and procedures aligned with legislative requirements.

Oversee risk assessments, safety audits and incident investigations across multiple sites to drive continuous improvement.

Analyse injury trends and develop preventative measures to minimise future risks.

Manage return to work programs and workers’ compensation claims in collaboration with HR, site management and insurers.

Prepare and present comprehensive safety reporting for senior leadership.

Coordinate and deliver safety training, inductions and toolbox talks to strengthen engagement at all levels.

Serve as a key liaison for regulatory authorities, insurers and external partners.

Foster a unified, people-first safety culture that champions accountability and wellbeing.

The Candidate:

Minimum Diploma in Work Health & Safety. Degree highly regarded.

Return to Work Coordinator Certification or willingness to obtain.

Proven experience in a senior safety leadership role within a high risk environment within the meat industry is highly desirable.

Strong working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and workers’ compensation frameworks.

Demonstrated ability to manage injury claims, return to-work coordination, and insurer relationships.

Excellent communicator with strong stakeholder influence across multiple sites.

Proactive and practical. Ability to balance operational execution with strategic oversight.
