Senior Project Officer – Strategy & Transformation

A leading Queensland Government department is seeking an experienced Senior Project Officer to support the delivery of strategic and transformation initiatives that improve customer services, strengthen business capability, and drive government reform across the state.

As part of the Strategy and Transformation team, you’ll contribute to a range of high-profile projects, including business improvement programs, whole-of-government reform initiatives, and major policy commitments. This is a dynamic, hands-on environment where your ability to coordinate workstreams, manage competing priorities, and produce high-quality outcomes will be highly valued.

You’ll bring strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the confidence to work collaboratively across internal teams, senior executives, and external partners to ensure projects are delivered on time and to standard.

Your Key Accountabilities:

• Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of key business improvement and transformation initiatives.
  
  
• Assist with managing project schedules, budgets, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  
  
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including governance papers, briefing notes, and stakeholder reports.
  
  
• Coordinate meetings, workshops, and briefings with internal and external stakeholders.
  
  
• Support stakeholder communication and engagement activities to ensure successful project outcomes.
  
  
• Contribute to a positive, proactive, and service-focused team culture.
  
  

About You:

• Demonstrated experience supporting or coordinating projects in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.
  
  
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to interpret and present data clearly.
  
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports and briefings.
  
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Planner).
  
  
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams, building trusted relationships with stakeholders.
  
  
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  
  

Highly Regarded:

• Qualifications and/or experience in project, program, or portfolio management (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, MSP, P3O).
  
  
• Skills in MS Project, Power BI, or similar analytical tools.
  
  
• Experience working in a large, complex organisation or government environment.
